Field trial Soweto, South Africa
On friday the 17th of September, Focus on Vision in cooperation with the Optometry department of the University of Johannesburg performed a field study in Soweto, South Africa.
After being refracted by students from the University, 130 patients received their Focusspecs. Most of them were in need of reading glasses for reading their bible or being able to continue sowing or other chores. On average, the patients improved their vision with 4 lines (logMAR units) on our reading charts. 83 % of the patients left with aided vision of 20/40 or better, enough to read their bible!
In six weeks, we will document their experiences with the Focusspecs. These experiences will help our research in South Africa and hopefully help to provide the possibilty for better primal eye-care for more people in South Africa.
